Want to learn to fence?      NCFDP has individual and group lessons

  • For beginning to advanced fencers
  • For recreational fencers
  • For those who want to fence competitively
  • For fencers aged 8 to 80.

Please check out our "Parent's Corner" page for great information about pursuing fencing as a
sport for your child.   Any first group lesson is always free.

NCFDP allows the opportunity of fencing on Tuesday and/or Thursday nights during the academic
year (and many summer weeks too) in Fetzer Gym on the campus of the University of North Carolina.

Youth and Junior group lessons are available for all weapons.   Adult group lessons are available
when five or more adults are interested.

You may sign up for individual lessons on a first - come - first - served basis with NCFDP staff if you
are not already on a lesson plan.  Open-bouting is available with others.  Electric fencing is available if
you have your own equipment.

Fencing Club is held for all 3 weapons (foil, epee, and saber) at Fetzer Gym room #07 on Tuesday
and Thursday nights starting at 7:00 p.m. Club runs from 7 - 10 pm during the Fall and Spring
semesters and 7 - 9 pm during exams and summer session.

The club is
closed from the end of summer session II until the beginning of the Fall semester (typically
the first three weeks of August) and during the last three weeks of December.   Club matches school
holidays for closings and there is no club during snow / icy weather.

Coach Miller is happy to chat with you and his
contact info is listed on this site.   There are several
ways to reach him.

If you are interested in fencing with us, we will ask you to fill out the
NCFDP Participant Information
form below.   You can download it, print, fill out, and bring to club.
You are encouraged to drop in and observe before beginning.
First group lesson is always free and we provide equipment for all group lessons.
